After finishing university back in 2013, graduating from a games design course, I knew my calling had to be in animation. The idea of bringing a character to life using motion is such an exciting concept. You can aim for realism or you can go stylized and create your own motions while maintaining that grounded in reality look.

I have worked multiple part and full time retail jobs to keep myself afloat all while doing my own personal projects as well as working projects to improve my skills and learn new things. I am still only scratching the surface with animation. I have used 3DS max in the past and still use it to this day on certain projects however now mainly use Maya for my animation needs because I personally feel it has a more robust toolset centered around animation

I now freelance full time, a massive risk at my "Junior" level however I got off to a good start with many happy clients.

I hope to keep going forward to branch into all aspects of animation including prop, character and particles. Anything that can move, I am wanting to move it.

I decided to take the risk of freelancing and have already had a chance to dig my animating hands into a variety of projects ranging from 1st and 3rd person in the short time I have been doing it.

It brings it’s own set of challenges (Other than fear of paying bills) but I really enjoy client interaction, ensuring the service I provide is of top quality, within the time scales set and a good value to the client.

CG Artist at Set Visions

November 2014 – July 2015 Bradford, GB

This was my first real professional role after university, I began as a freelance animator working on a project for a month, after this was delivered the company decided to keep me on as a CG artist, teach me some valuable industry skills including Vray, Texturing & basic lighting.

However due to lack of animation work, this was only a short term position. During my short time there I have learnt fantastic time management, how to work well under pressure & gained some valuable skills which I can carry through my working life.

Working in a retail environment , providing friendly and helpful service to customers. Buying, selling and trading while maintaining customer happiness and getting them the latest technology, games or DVDs.

Working in retail allowed me to build personal relationships with customers, knowing what they want & what they will spend. This close relationship with each customer allows for strong sales techniques to achieve the daily sales required.
